SpaceX recently took action to cut off the Starlink satellite Internet terminal in Myanmar, which is used to support large-scale telecommunications fraud. This move is an important blow to the increasingly rampant cross-border fraud in the region.
According to media reports, Starlink terminal equipment was illegally imported and used in Myanmar's border areas, especially in fraud parks controlled by local armed forces. These devices provide a stable and untraceable network connection for fraud dens, enabling them to carry out illegal activities such as investment fraud and online gambling to people around the world.
SpaceX responded that the company has zero tolerance for any unauthorized use of services. In an official statement, SpaceX made it clear: “SpaceX's terminal equipment has not been approved for sale or operation in Myanmar. If it is found that unauthorized terminal equipment is being used, we will immediately investigate and take action to disconnect it, which is in accordance with our terms of service.” This statement directly confirms that the company has taken technical blockade measures against illegal Starlink equipment in Myanmar.

What impact do the illegal activities of Myanmar fraud groups have on the world? About telecommunications network fraud (especially "pig-butchering scam"): This is currently the most influential and internationally concerned crime which mainly induces victims to make false investments and gambling through online dating, causing huge property losses. A large number of families are broken.

Chinese media widely reported that the amount involved in a single "pig-butchering scam" fraud case can reach millions or even tens of millions of yuan.
What’s more, Myanmar's political chaos and sovereign fragmentation make international law enforcement cooperation extremely difficult. Criminal groups take advantage of loopholes between different jurisdictions and get away with it,which foments the global organized crime network.
Analysts pointed out that SpaceX's action cut off the key communication lifeline of these fraud groups and will effectively disrupt their criminal chains. International anti-fraud organizations welcomed SpaceX's initiative and called on governments to strengthen cooperation with technology companies to prevent high-tech equipment from being used for cross-border criminal activities.
