What’s the Hype Surrounding Cozycore?

There’s definitely something magical about the fall. The air gets cooler, the days get shorter, and it seems like we all get called back to that familiar feeling of comfort that so often fills the season. Enter cozycore, the online aesthetic that embodies all of the warmth and slow living that we frequently think of when fall rolls around. However, at the heart of the cozycore aesthetic, it’s not about oversized sweaters or vanilla candles; it’s about slowing down and taking time to enjoy the little things. As an exciting start to the new school year fades into a blur of projects, deadlines, and exams, it can be a very stressful time. Soon enough, the freedom of summer feels so far away. In fact, many of us feel busier during the fall than any other season. So that is a big contributing factor to why we love cozycore so much. It offers a little bit of warmth and comfort when life is as overwhelming as ever. Whether it’s a hot apple cider after a long day, a fluffy blanket while watching your comfort show, or the dim glow of fairy lights in your bedroom, cozycare reminds you to take a break during this tense season.  Cozycore feels like nostalgia, the kind that reminds us of home and safety. In a season where everything seems to speed up, it prompts us to notice the small joys again.

Additionally, the fashion side of cozycore reflects this, as well: knit sweaters, plaid skirts, long scarves, ankle socks, and chunky loafers are the perfect examples of what it means to be cozy. It’s all about self-expression through comfort. Accessories are minimal: tote bags, gloves, and dainty jewelry. Even makeup follows the same rules, with soft, natural tones and colors. And the best part about cozycore fashion is its accessibility. You don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes to incorporate it into your daily style. It’s about layering and reusing, making old clothes feel new again. An old sweater borrowed from a sibling, a thrifted scarf, or a beanie knitted by a grandparent all fit perfectly into the aesthetic.

But cozycore is more than what we drink or what we wear. It’s a mindset. It encourages us to make time for stillness in such a fast-paced world: by journaling on a quiet evening or baking a sweet treat, we can create little moments of peace even in the busiest months.

Fall might bring stress, change, and chilly weather, but cozycore can alter it into something relaxing and grounding. It’s not about escaping reality, but rather, creating a happier one. So this fall, wrap yourself in your favorite blanket, light a pumpkin spice candle, and let yourself experience a bit of calm in this chaos.
