THE ART OF LOVING - OLIVIA DEAN
RELEASED: SEPTEMBER 26
Olivia Dean’s new album perfectly encapsulates the feeling of falling in love. The upbeat, jazzy tone makes it feel entirely natural. The album is extremely well made, from start to finish. Before its release date, the three first singles topped the UK charts immediately. Olivia depicts that precarious feeling of losing yourself as you fall in love; feeling like you are in a bubble, as if living outside of your body, because you are so immersed in another person that you begin to hope and imagine your future with them. Not only that, Olivia also depicts the hardships of love and the conflicting feelings that come with it. Not only does it have some amazing lyrics but it also (as said previously) has spectacular production. You can hear all of the different instruments, piano keys, strings and horns behind her words.

KANSAS ANYMORE (THE LONGEST GOODBYE) - ROLE MODEL
RELEASED: FEBRUARY 14
Role model’s new album is NO SKIP album. Fans suspect that the album is about his breakup with Emma Chamberlain. Not long after the breakup, Role Model released the hit single “Deeply still in love” where he talks about still being hung up on his most recent partner. The internet went crazy over the lyrics. It's not very common these days that men release music where they yearn for their partner (or ex partner), as it has become ‘uncool.’ Modern relationships have become a matter of looking for that “ideal” person that is a good enough weight, height, age and most of all a good enough income. It has become materialistic, which is why I found this album a breath of fresh air. It felt real and honest. A depiction of what love and a true relationship looks like. It might be hard and scary (and sometimes it might come to an end) but it's a matter of working towards it every day of your life. It's looking for genuine connection over something physical or tangible.

THE DREAM - THE FAVORS
RELEASED: SEPTEMBER 19
The Favors released their first ever album this past September and it was nothing short of amazing. As explained by Finneas and Ashe, members of the band, they created this band out of the blue and worked on this album in secret. The Favors might be a new and upcoming band but the sound instantly felt familiar. The four members and longtime friends blend sharp songwriting, emotional depth and a special cinematic touch that they were previously known for. The artistry behind it all is mesmerizing, reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac. Even with its heartwrenching lyrics, you'll be twirling around your kitchen with the upbeat, breezy and joyful sound. There are not enough words to describe what this record has done in just the few weeks since its release but it's been amazing to witness. It's a project that showcases the most beautiful aspects of life and the heart. I can't wait to see where the band goes next.
